Kardashians , Krishnans and Rengarajans

A little conversation that me(a krishnan) and my hubby ( a Rengarajan) had sometime back about this show on E! called : " keeping up with the kardashians"

Hubby : What r u watching?
Me : There is some show on E called " keeping up with the kardashians"
Hubby : who are they ?
Me : I dont know. that's what I want to find out
Hubby : avaaloda edhukku dee naan keep up pannanum? ( Why should I keep up with them? )
Me : I dont know.. maybe because the Kim lady has a really big B** ?
Hubby : Really? Pass the remote here.
Me : Sure honey here you go. By the way, you might want to think about ways to keep up the fight with the krishnans this evening !

My $0.02 on SAHM

First of all , thanks to my GDM friends and in particular Lave and Anjali for remidning me of this blog:)

I have never really been a SAHM, but the past week, I got a taste of what it feels like. Now I feel very well equipped to give my unsolicited opinions on the same!

I dont know which world I have been living in , claiming how I juggle work and life after work blah blah but SAHM is the TOUGHEST job a mom can do. I am totally in awe and salute each and every one who has chosen to do this. To keep a kid entertained, fed and maintain a house is no joke!! All I did was put on TV and /or put on TV. We read some books for a little while but I kept coming back to TV to suit my needs. Its a good thing I am not a full time at home mom - I see absolutely no benefit from this arrangement for any of us. Simple said in tamil : " Urupudama poyiduvom" :)

On the bright side, I am getting lots of sympathy from hubby dear who is travelling and has left me alone to deal with a sick kid. I have to really use this to my advantage!! A dress maybe?:)

Best friends

Sonali has been growing up so fast, I cannot believe she will be 3 soon. She is talking and behaving like she is 20:)

Here is how the conversation went with her last week:
ME : How was school sonu?
She : GReat!
ME : tell me more, who do you play with?
She : R. She is my best friend
ME : how about others? A? G?
She : A is T's best friend, G is A's best friend.
ME : !!!!!!!!!!!

How does she even know the concept of a best friend?:))) it was hilarious!

This week she seemed a little upset and kept saying she dint wanna go to school. So I asked her abotu it.

ME: What happened at school?
she : nothing
ME : Who is your best friend now?
She : nobody.
ME: why? What happnd to R?
She : She was mean to me . She is A' sbest friend now.
ME : hmm Why dont you playwith other kids in your class?
She : I wanna ONLY play with R

Of course I dint have much wisdom or advice after this. If this is a sample of parenting test, I am proud to say that I have failed with no hope of success:)

Running and me

It all started sometime in September when my company offered to pay to participate in the Austin 3M Half Marathon and relay. Its not like I was against exercise, but running.. that was a totally different story. I found multiple excuses not to run, but not a single one supporting it. My friend at work encouraged me to just try it out and gave me a training schedule too. Of course the fact that it was free for me just tipped the edge my way:)

I started training and found it really tough the first week, but thankfully I stayed on. I went on to run the relay at the Half Marathon in Jan. IT was a very cold day and I did not do too well. but totally loved it. I followed this up with another 10K run last week and enjoyed it even more. I guess I want to continue doing this.. let's see how this goes.

So if you r thinking about running, I am positive you can do it.. just think about me:) If I can do it.. anyone can.

2010 - A new beginning

Happy New Year.
WHAT? its only January!. I am still right on time.

2009 went by so fast.. unbelievable. When I look back, I am unable to categorize it as a good or bad year. It was kind of neutral. The only milestone was that I lost all my post baby weight and my lovely daughter turned 2. Oh yes we also had an addition to our extended family.. my SIL had a tiny cutie in May.

I hope 2010 is much more exciting and fun filled than 2009 for all of us.

Here's to a great beginning.

Potty Training - Final Chapter

Hopefully this is our Final potty training chapter. If not, I will write Volume 2:)

Sonali's daycare takes all the credit for her training. Her teacher is awesome and she started by seating her in the potty every 2 hours. In about 3 weeks, she was completely potty trained and got the concept.

I was too chicken to let her go without diapers at home and the few times I tried initially, she had some accidents and I got worried. But soon after, she asked to go to the potty herself and her diaper stayed dry without accidents. Now she is out of diapers and insists on not wearing them at all!. Yoho!

Nighttime -She goes before her sleep to the potty and stays dry in the mornings too. I am paranoid about the sheets to let her sleep witout diapers, so I put on a pair of pullups after she sleeps. But so far, nothing on it and she is dry. Goes in the morning in her potty. So one of these days Iwill gather the courage to take those pull ups off too.

We have been travelling and she did great on the journey about her potty training ( took it way more seriously than I did:) ).. but I will wait for a whole week to declare complete success. So far it seems to be going the right way.

Good Luck to all the moms who are in the process. Daycares rock for this reason atleast:)

Sonali's moments

Have not blogged in a while and will update soon..
but I want to record priceless conversations I have with sonali these days:)

She is talking so much and throwing tantrums per schedule for a 2 yr old, so no surprises there. But what really surprised us is the inability to deal with it patiently.

Yesterday, after an exhausting evening with her, I was loading the dishwasher and cleaning up when she comes to me and says:
" Mommy , what do you want?"
" Peace of mind, sonu"
Thinks for a brief second, runs to her father and goes:
" Dada, mommy wants pess of mind, can you go give it to her? "

:)

She got her flu shot last week and was very concerned about it. She refuses to remove her bandaid, almost like its a prize for her shot.

" Mommy Dotor do 'chuk' for me"
" What?"
" I went to Dotor. dotor put Jection and do 'chuk' for me"

Interpret it as:
I went to the Doctor, I got an injection and the chuk was the expression of the prick:)
